"I've been happy with the way
things have been coming together," GM
Jason Licht said on Saturday as the Buccaneers
broke camp after a two-hour practice. “Our offense is looking more
and more crisp, particularly in the red zone." Winston looked particularly sharp in practice on Saturday and his
timing with wide receivers Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson, and tight
end Austin Seferian-Jenkins continues to improve according to local observers. Evans has yet to catch a pass from Winston during the preseason (having gone 0-for-5 so far) so the boxscores aren't highlighting the improving chemistry just yet. Winston has been hitting Evans and Jackson with long throws regularly during practices, though, according to local reports - for example, Evans reeled in a 50-yard reception during the final practice of training camp last Saturday.
With Winston at $6,900 for Week One, and Jackson at $7,200 against a mediocre Tennessee pass D (that ranked 15th in the NFL last year averaging 235.8 passing yards allowed per game, with 28 TDs given up (tied for 22nd in the NFL) vs. just 12 interceptions generated (tied for 21st)) , I'm considering using a Winston/Jackson stack for some of my lineups (I think Evans is too pricey at $8,300). Evans also tweaked a hamstring in the second preseason game - if the injury lingers/hampers him heading into Week One then Jackson will definitely be on my short list for FanDuel entries. And let's not forget that Winston has run in a TD during both preseason contests so far...
Also important to this Week One matchup - LCB Jason McCourty (groin surgery) is "expected to miss a few games" for the Titans, including this week one matchup. McCourty is the best cornerback in Tennessee, so his loss improves the chances for a big game from a Winston and Jackson stack.

It sounds like Jameis Winston is making solid progress as the Buccaneers’ quarterback, especially with his red zone efficiency and growing chemistry with his key targets like Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson, and Austin Seferian-Jenkins. While the preseason stats don't yet reflect it, reports suggest that Winston's timing with these receivers is getting better, which is promising for the upcoming season. A big throw like the 50-yard reception from Evans could be an indication of more big plays to come.
